Promoting Social Mobility, Diversity, Inclusion And Equity In Apprenticeships & Skills

Bringing About Positive And Lasting Change, Ensuring That Opportunities Are Accessible To All

The Multicultural Apprenticeship & Skills Alliance (MASA) is more than an organisation — it’s a movement. Established in 2017, MASA was created to address the significant under-representation of diverse communities in apprenticeships and skills development across the UK.

Our work is structured around three core pillars — EducationEngagement, and Advocacy & Policy — each designed to drive systemic change and create a more inclusive skills landscape for everyone.

Educate

Empowering individuals and communities with the knowledge, tools and resources to access apprenticeships and skills development opportunities.

Engage

Building meaningful partnerships with employers, training providers, and community organisations to create pathways into quality apprenticeships.

Elevate

Amplifying the voices of under-represented communities and championing policy changes that promote equity in skills development.
Our Vision
A world where every individual, regardless of their background, has equal access to high-quality apprenticeships and skills development opportunities.
Our Mission
To promote social mobility, diversity, inclusion and equity in apprenticeships and skills by educating, engaging, and elevating communities and organisations across the UK.

The Multicultural Apprenticeship & Skills Alliance (MASA) is a UK-based organisation dedicated to promoting social mobility, diversity, inclusion and equity in apprenticeships and skills. We work with employers, training providers, and communities to create a more inclusive skills landscape.
MASA was founded in 2017 by a coalition of diversity and skills professionals who recognised the significant under-representation of multicultural communities in the apprenticeship sector.
Our vision is a world where every individual, regardless of their background, has equal access to high-quality apprenticeships and skills development. Our mission is to promote social mobility, diversity, inclusion and equity by educating, engaging, and elevating communities and organisations across the UK.
The addition of ‘Skills’ to our name reflects our expanded mission beyond traditional apprenticeships to encompass the broader skills development ecosystem, including T-Levels, traineeships, and other vocational pathways.
Our three pillars are Educate (empowering individuals with knowledge and resources), Engage (building partnerships with employers and communities), and Elevate (amplifying voices and championing policy changes for equity in skills).
We support under-represented communities through targeted outreach programmes, mentoring schemes, employer partnerships, careers events, research and advocacy, and by providing resources and guidance on apprenticeship and skills opportunities.
MASA organises an annual Diversity in Apprenticeships Conference, regional networking events, employer roundtables, community engagement workshops, mentoring programmes, and thought leadership webinars throughout the year.
The Multicultural Apprentice Network (MAN) is a peer-support community for current and aspiring apprentices from diverse backgrounds, offering mentoring, networking opportunities, and career development resources.
